On Saturday 2nd July 2022, we held our third annual event and barbecue at The Fairmile, Cobham. After such a successful event in 2019 we thought we'd have our work cut out to better that event. From the feedback we've had it seems we nailed it. 

We started the day in glorious sunshine which stayed with us for the duration of the show. The evening before we had marked out the lanes for parking the 100 or so cars we expected to arrive. The admin team and a handful of keen volunteers were on site just after 08:00 to set up our HQ gazebo, another for St John Ambulance and fix up the bunting, flags and various signs. The trade stands, the DJ and St John Ambulance were all on site and set up by 10:00. The team at The Fairmile looked after us as always with drinks and breakfast rolls served from 09.30 and an excellent BBQ from 11:45. 

Our marshals did a fantastic job getting the cars in safely and it was immediately clear that the quality of the cars on display was very special and we hit our expected numbers too. This was going to be a great show. 

The trade stands included  Muscle Car UK, Skyco, The AA, A-Plan Specialist Insurance and Dave's Diecasts. New for this year were Surrey Jive who put on two jive dance demonstrations. We were also joined by a number of our friends from CCCUK and MMA. Thank you all for your attendance and support.

Car awards this year were judged by the five members of the admin team who each selected a car of their choice. Given the high standard and diversity of the cars this was not easy. Eventually, we arrived at a short list of five cars, then we had a bit of a haggle to agree our Best of Show. Trophies were awarded to:

'Best of Show': Craig Hugo - 1969 Mustang Mach 1.

'Judges' Awards': Nick Dean - 1966 Mustang Convertible, Alec Meadows - 1959 Desoto Sportsman Fireflite,

Gary Cooper-Burrows - 1967 Mustang Coupe, John Farazmand - 1966 Plymouth Satellite.

In addition to these awards, we had one further presentation to make, a 'Special Recognition Award'. One of the very first members to join our club, he can be relied upon to be at every meet and is always among the first people to book for each of our events. He is one of the club's great characters, always helpful and welcoming to old members and new, and a proper gentleman.

Our ‘Special Recognition Award’ was presented to Dave Parkyns. Congratulations!

We’d like to say a big thank you to Danny and the team at The Fairmile who are always very accommodating hosts. Our meets and our annual event would not be possible without their help and welcome. Finally, thank you to everybody who attended the event and made it such a memorable day. We look forward to next year's annual event on Saturday 1st July 2023.
